Medicine, Education, and Development
for Low Income Families Everywhere
Our Mission
Our chapter's mission is to raise money to help fund MEDLIFE Mobile Clinics that provide primary-care services, community development projects, and health-education programs to poverty-stricken regions of Peru, Ecuador, India and Tanzania.
What is MEDLIFE?
MEDLIFE (Medicine, Education and Development for Low Income Families Everywhere) is a national organization devoted to improving access to healthcare, education and sustainable development in underprivileged communities in Latin America, India and Africa. Our chapter at the University of Chicago’s mission is to raise money to help fund MEDLIFE Mobile Clinics that provide primary-care services, community development projects, and health-education programs to poverty-stricken regions of Peru, Ecuador, India and Tanzania.
“MEDLIFE believes that in order to improve the overall health and welfare of families and communities in need, a comprehensive approach is needed. With this goal in mind, MEDLIFE seeks to deliver aid through three broad avenues: Medicine, Education, and Development.”

Specifically, MEDLIFE Mobile Clinics provide primary care to poverty-stricken regions of Peru, Ecuador, India and Tanzania. MEDLIFE employs full-time MEDVIDA staff members who offer these services year-round. MEDLIFE also reaches out to patients through educational programs that touch on health topics catering to the age and gender of these patients. Additionally, MEDLIFE seeks to improve the communities that our patients live in through various community projects.
Another important part of MEDLIFE is the money that MEDLIFE receives through donations and chapter fundraising and how MEDLIFE uses those funds.
“MEDLIFE divides donations into two funds, the MEDLIFE Fund, which dedicates 100% of every donation toward building sustainable development projects for poor communities, and the Mission Fund which is the broadest kind of giving to MEDLIFE and helps MEDLIFE accomplish it’s overall mission.”
